School resources

The State Library offers a range of resources and activities to support primary and secondary students.

These include research guides, eResources, and visits (in-person and virtual).

Research guides

Research tips for students - Research is an important part of your studies and in particular your SACE subjects and Activating Identities and Futures (AIF). To be a good researcher, you must be able to locate, organise and evaluate authoritative and credible information sources.

Study resources for students - The State Library provides home access to eResources including authoritative databases that include journals, magazines, current and historical newspapers on a wide range of topics.

If you'd like your class to learn about research from one of our librarians, we offer virtual visits.

eResources

Digital collections school resources - Showcases selected items from State Library collections aligned with the Australian curriculum: HASS and History.

Search the A - Z eResources and databases

Visits

For in-person visits we have developed two self-guided tours for school years F to 6 and 7 to 12. This resource provides everything you need to know and planning your own self-guided visit.

Discover Your State Library for Schools: Self-Guided resource for Years F-6 (PDF 4.5MB)

Discover Your State Library for Schools: Self-Guided resource for Years 7-12 (PDF 5.3MB)

We also offer virtual visits via MS TEAMS where your class can find out about your State Library as well as developing research strategies for SACE subjects and Activating Identities and Futures (AIF).  These are approx. 60 minutes duration and are subject to staff availability.
