How do I pay and print?

Use your library card
You can add money to your library card at the print kiosks, located in the Research Library.

Guest ticket
If you are a short-term visitor, you can ask library staff for a guest ticket. Use the guest ticket to login to a library computer and add funds for printing.

Payments can be made via EFTPOS at the kiosk or at the Information desk.​​​​​
Cash payments can be made at the kiosk, but please note that change is not available.

Can I check my print balance?

Yes, you can. You can view your print balance by visiting the Libraries SA Web Portal which will let you:

  • View, top up, and manage your printing jobs.
  • Print from your device.
  • Book a computer.

If you need help with how to print or use your card, ask a staff member for help.

How do I print from a library computer?

  • Open the document and select ‘Print’. 
  • If required, adjust the print settings.
  • A pop-up print price box appears for you to confirm, that then sends your document to print. 
  • Go to a printer, scan your card and login.
  • Select the files to print.
  • Press ‘Start’.

How do I print from a USB?

  • Go to a printer, scan your library card, and enter your password.
  • Select 'Use Copier'. 
  • Insert your USB. 
  • Select 'USB Mem. Select Print’. 
  • Select the file(s) to print. 
  • If required, adjust the print settings.
  • Press ‘Start’.

How do I print from a mobile device?

  • Open the Web print portal. 
  • Enter your library card barcode and password.
  • If you are a guest, enter the details on the ticket provided.
  • Under the 'File print' tab upload document(s) using the 'Select files' button. 
  • Your uploaded files will display under 'Current activity' list, along with the print settings.
  • If required, adjust the print settings by using the ‘Change’ button.
  • Go to a printer, scan your card, and enter your password.
  • Select ‘My Prints’ tab (the cost of the print job will display).
  • Follow the prompts to print. 

How do I book a computer at the State Library?

Public computers with high speed internet are available for use in the Research Library on Level 1 of the Spence Wing.

Computers can be booked in advance for up to 2 hours per session, or walk in and you can use a computer if it is available.

Book or manage an existing booking via the Libraries SA Web Portal. All you need to book is your State Library of South Australia or SA Public Libraries card barcode and password.

If you don’t have a card, join the State Library.

What can I do with your computers?

We have computers available which offer a range of options for your needs:

  • search our catalogues
  • save to a USB
  • access self-serve digital scanners
  • Microfilm readers and scanner PCs are available to view 16mm and 35mm formats and microfiche. Scanpro software is available for browsing, printing and scanning content.
